Yet another scenario me and my brother were arguing over last night, he had a face down legendary ju jitsu master, I played reinforcements and got my mystic lv2, and attacked it, here's where it gets good, I reckon that as it was destroyed by the effect not the battle it does not get returned to the top of my deck (same with warrior lady etc, you cannot use there effects), my brother reckons that as I declared the attack it goes back to the top of my deck.
Your views please.
Oh and one more, can spirit reaper be tributed by enemy controller to take your opponents monster?, I'd imagine it can but not to sure.

If this card attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, destroy the monster immediately with this card's effect without flipping it face-up or applying damage calculation. During the End Phase of a turn that this card destroyed a monster as a result of battle, by sending this card to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 "Mystic Swordsman LV4" from your hand or Deck.
without flipping it face-up so no effect from ju jitsu master.
you right matey

But ju jitsu master is not a flip effect so that make no difference, I'm thinking more along the lines that you are destroying with the effct not with the battle. I'd imagine I'm still right but need to be sure before I go boasting lol.
What about enemy controller and reaper???

"Spirit Reaper" is destroyed by its own effect after a card that targets it resolves.
so i guess, the enemycontroller resolves first. and spirit reaper is already in the graveyard b4 his effect gets to take place.

lmao long time,
Mystic Level 2 Attrib: Earth Type: Warrior/Effect Level:2 Atk: 900 Def: 0 If this card attacks a face-down Defense Position monster, destroy the monster immediately with this card's effect without flipping it face-up or applying damage calculation. During the End Phase of a turn that this card destroyed a monster as a result of battle, send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 "Mystic Swordsman LV4" from your hand or Deck.
yet again its actually on the card, its pretty much given to anyone who isnt a n00b, that when a monster is destroyed face down by MS2 w/e the effect of the opposing face down monster it wipes it out, wether it be a flip effect or not, if its face down MS2 owns it full stop.
Spirit Reaper Attrib: Dark Type: Zombie/Effect Level:3 Atk: 300 Def: 200 This monster is not destroyed as a result of battle at any time, although damage calculation applied normally. When this card is specially designated as the effect of a Magic, Trap or Effect Monster Card, this card is immidiately destroyed. When this card attacks your opponent's Life Points directly 1 card randomly selected from your opponent's hand and discarted to the Graveyard.
Enemy Controller Group: Spell Card Type: Spell Icon:Quick-Play Select and activate 1 of the following effects: - Change the Battle Position of 1 face-up monster on your opponent's side of the field. - Offer 1 monster on your side of the field as a Tribute. Select 1 face-up monster on your opponent's side of the field. Take control of the selected card until the End Phase of the turn this card is activated.
Spirit reaper is a biatch when it comes to anything with monster effects and magic/traps, if its targeted its gone, again its in the card text on both cards, just need to put 2 and 2 together lol. If reaper is facedown wen used by enemy controller obv. the effect of controller goes through, but when its targeted face up by anything its gone and its an insufficient target for controller, its a good way to make way for some space if ur in goat lock =/, but it goes the same for soul exchange when being used on reaper, it dont happen. GG

Cheers Louis, I knew I was right about the mystic ju jitsu thing, but trying to tell my brother he is wrong about something isn't the easiest thing in the world. Wasn't to sure about the reaper thing, and I'm still not, give me a yes or no answer, is he destroyed by his own effect when you try to tribute him off to take control of your opponents monster while he is face up? (and stop sounding so saracastic or you will get the biggest nipple cripple ever on saturday)

lmao i enjoy those nipple cripples keep me alert and ready for my duels lmao its kool, reaper is killed before the tribute cuz its targeted dude so basically reaper isnt there to be tributed off meaning that the control of the oppoents monster doesnt happen. GG
