As the turn player you have priority, so Otohime will return to your hand, before Ectoplasmer's effect.
If Ectoplasmer is your's as well, you decide which effect to resolve first.

I remember that one Bood. You chose to resolve Ecto first, doing nothing as you had no monsters, and then using Strike Ninja's effect.
I proposed you choose this order for resolution, and I still don't have a problem with that order. Others argued otherwise.
The ruling on priority simply states that if 2 or more effects resolve simultaneously: - if they belong to separate players, the turn player's effect resolves first (the classic example being Exiled and Trap Hole) - if they belong to the same player, that player chooses their order
So, unless a specific card ruling says otherwise, I'd stick with that.

i was told otherwise by a decent higher power, which really affected my ecto-burn deck.. as i couldnt use Brain control anymore for the exact reason above. Hmmm... lol... am confoozed

If you duel me you can use it ... lol
Next time you speak to them ask why? We'd be interested to hear their reasoning on this one.

apparently.. the first thing that happens in the end phase is the monsters effects, which helps with otohime i spose as it goes back to hand.. i think the wording on them is "till your end phase" implying that at the start of the end phase the effects of Brain, oto, and strike ninja end or activate.. and then ecto's effect happens during the end phase, i didnt really get it either, but i saw their point... example remove SN from game by discarding enter end phase, so immediately the effect of SN ends and he comes back ectos effect takes place or brain oppos mon end phase, brains effect end immediately so mon is return ectos effect then takes place.

I hear them ... and would be willing to accept it if they fought hard enough. But purely to avoid a war lol. It's good reasoning. I can see why people are confused.
I'd still let you go with what I believe is proper in a duel against me, even though I'd be at a disadvantage. Purely cause I ain't see a ruling against it.
We need a real judge's opinion on this. I'm just a noob ... lmao

my gosh i think i have cracked it...
a ruling for ecto is....
If you Tribute your opponent's monster that you controlled with "Snatch Steal" or "Change of Heart", your opponent takes the damage even though it was their monster.
and as we all know, the wording of COH is
Select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field. Take control of the selected monster until the End Phase of this turn.
so there thats the same as brain... so therefore the turn player chooses the order??
i guess that has to be right
