There is no missing pound, the boss has £25, the bell boy has £2 and the people have £3, totalling £30, when you break it down it seems though £1 is missing but its not. thats right... there isnt a missing pound, its just the way that the question went around which is wrong. where you find what each guy ended up paying the £9 well, you subtract the 1 from the 10. Therefore once you achieve £27, you subtract the £2 to get £25 - the actual amount paid for the room- instaead of adding it onto 27. Here is a good one; A prisoner is told that he will be hanged on some day between Monday and Friday, but that he will not know on which day the hanging will occur before it happens. He cannot be hanged on Friday, because if he were still alive on Thursday, he would know that the hanging will occur on Friday, but he has been told he will not know the day of his hanging in advance. He cannot be hanged Thursday for the same reason, and the same argument shows that he cannot be hanged on any other day either. Nevertheless, the executioner unexpectedly arrives on some day other than Friday, surprising the prisoner. The Prisoner had to be hung on a suprising day. What day was it?

actually, your not too far off...... if he was alive on monday, we would have know it was to come on tuesday... if he was alive tuesday, we would know it comes on wednesday, same with wednesday, thursday and friday... so he couldnt be hung on any day and have it be a surprise.......
but because he knows he could not be hung without knowing which day, we would relax, and there is the surprise; that he was too male c*cky thinking he couldnt be hung, but then was. so now it could be anyday... including friday
